Online food ordering company Uber Eats has for the first time started delivering marijuana.
The company announced on Monday that it had struck a deal with US-based online cannabis marketplace Leafly to offer weed delivery to customers in Toronto, Canada.
The Daily Mail reports that under the service, customers will need to prove they are sober and at least 19 years of age when the driver shows up at their door.
The delivery will apparently be made by a government-certified employee who will verify the age and sobriety of the customer upon arrival.
On offer will be a variety of cannabis products, including TCH chocolates and candies, and vape cartridges.
The two companies said the delivery service will help combat the illegal underground market, which they say makes up over half of non-medical cannabis sales in Ontario province.
Ontario residents have since last year been allowed to order cannabis products online, but the law required customers to pick up their purchases.
Uber Eats, however, said that there were no plans to break into the US market, where the recreational use of cannabis has been legalized in 19 states.
