Kazimbaya’s commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two nations was evident when he was approved by the Rwandan Senate. He expressed his dedication to implementing the contents of the cooperation agreement signed by Rwanda and Morocco. His agenda also includes fostering stronger interactions between the legislatures of the two countries to make the cooperation more productive across various sectors.

Umutoni Kazimbaya brings a wealth of experience in foreign affairs to her new role. Prior to this appointment, he served as the head of all Rwandan embassies on the African continent within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2020. Her international experience extends back to 2013 when he served as the Deputy Ambassador of Rwanda to Canada in Ottawa. Before that, he held the positions of First Adviser and Secretary to the Rwandan Ambassador in Tanzania. Notably, Kazimbaya has also worked with prominent international organizations and domestic non-governmental organizations, such as the World Bank, PEPFAR, USAID, and the Global Fund in the fight against AIDS and tuberculosis.

The relationship between Rwanda and the Kingdom of Morocco has a strong foundation, dating back to 2016 when King Mohammed VI’s historic visit to Rwanda led to the signing of 40 cooperation agreements between the two countries. Additionally, a monitoring team was established to ensure the effective implementation of these agreements. This diplomatic exchange culminated in the opening of the Rwandan Embassy in Morocco in January 2020, three years after the Kingdom of Morocco established its embassy in Kigali.

Umutoni Kazimbaya’s appointment as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Morocco underscores the commitment of both nations to further strengthen their bilateral relations and promote collaboration across various sectors, enhancing the shared interests and future prosperity of their peoples.
