Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has become an integral part of daily life, transforming the way people work, communicate, and deliver services. When used effectively, AI enhances productivity and improves the quality of services provided to citizens.
In line with Rwanda’s vision to accelerate digital transformation, the Government has introduced AI training programs for all public servants, regardless of their roles or prior knowledge of technology. The initiative aims to equip public employees with practical AI skills that can support efficient and citizen centered service delivery.
The training programs are designed to be flexible and accessible, requiring only a few hours per week. They introduce participants to the fundamentals of AI, how it works, and how it can be applied in everyday professional tasks. Public institutions have been encouraged to support their staff in completing the courses while continuing with their regular duties.
Participants can choose training tracks based on their level of experience. Beginners will complete four courses and receive four certificates, while those with prior experience in using AI tools will complete one course and receive one certificate.
Upon completion, all certificates awarded to public servants will be uploaded into the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), in line with existing practices for professional certifications.
The Ministry in charge of Public Service has urged all public servants to complete the training within the designated timeframe, emphasizing that the acquired AI skills will strengthen institutional capacity and enhance the quality of public service delivery.
